55 Screen is fine art silkscreen printing studio, community workshop, gallery and shop space located on Hastings' vibrant seafront. Though relatively young, the studio is well respected within the fine art and street art scene and prides itself on attention to detail and ability to produce exceptional work at incredibly large sizes.
What began as a website redesign soon evolved into a complete re-imaging of their visual identity, gallery space and packaging system. Beginning with the visual identity, we proposed a system that is directly influenced by Andy Warhol's approach to reproduction and repetition, allowing for endless experimentation and play.
At the heart of the identity is an (anti-)logo designed to subvert the single logo structure of classic branding systems, and to evolve over time. Launching with 20 iterations, these will be updated seasonally and in collaboration with artists and creative partners in any given year. This curated and collaborative aspect of the identity ensures it remains visibly connected to culture, and the context within which it operates.
